2008 BMW HP2 Sport
New sport production bike made after their 24 hour endurance bike.
128 hp, 86 ft/lbs boxer twin.
For me who is looking to get on something a bit more refined and streetable, this is looking good in my eyes. I even like the old gsxr headlight similarity.

WOW!!! that thing is great looking. The idea of a shaft driven sport bike from bmw sounds great to me. My only concern is bmw style price meaning 10k+ which will turn me away. But who knows, it is in fact a bmw.

Leave it to BMW to be so stubborn they still use the boxer + driveshaft layout on a sport bike.
Either way I'd love to wrap my crotch around that seat.
Edit : Clearance seems to not be an issue

Good God those are some ugly mirrors.
They almost look like those antennae from the Andorians....or Shrek...
I've never liked how BMW's SSSA are on the same side as the kickstand. It seems so much prettier like the Ducati SSSAs.

Why? Not everyone wants the same inline-4 plastic wrapped supersport race replica... I think the 'big 4' have that market covered anyways.

Yeah but the 1098 has 30 more hp and only gives up 5 ft-lbs of torque for only $1000 more. And it looks better doing it. Now if the HP2 is closer to $10000 then its a fairly good deal.
I'm interested in seeing who would buy such a motorcycle. Its unique so that's a plus but its got some stiff competition. Then again i don't think its meant to really compete with open class supersports, that's the K1000's job.

On paper, BMW's give up a lot in power/weight/etc for a given price point compared to the japanese bikes, or ducatis... thats nothing new, and they seem to be doing ok with sales

I think that's because very few of BMW's products go directly against the Japanese or Ducati. A few of them do, but most of them don't. I think the K1000 will probably do the business though.

Sorry, didn't turn on /sarcasm
But it does seem like a sport bike needs all the clearence it can get....and that boxer isn't helping. From 1 angle it looked like it was far off but looking at that picture....
Didn't say BMW needs a 4, I'd like to see another company added into the v-twin mix. I'm rather tired of 4's myself.
