Problem....... 92 civic 130,000 thousand miles, been a great car no major problems engine wise, just normal stuff ie. starter, slave cylinder, alternator.

I turn igniton to acc and the engine light comes on, but won't go off, and the car will not start it will turn over but thats it. After a few minutes, it varies from 1 or 2 minutes al the way up to 10, you hear the fuel pump whirl and the engine light goes off and the car will start no problem.

I jumped the fuel pump, so it funs on acc all the time, still not starting; the engine light still on by the way. I check the Main Relay, not that still same thing. Ive tested the Map sensor and checked all fuses that I could think of.. My next thought was the ECU, but before i go and buy another one i was hoping someone else had any idea about what it could possibly be.

The only problem with the engine is that it has low compression and needs a new set of rings, other than that its all good...

You need to find out what code is causing the check engine light to come on.
