CRX door skins install. how much would this cost?
i just picked up a set of door skins for my crx. i was wondering if any one had gone this route and how much it cost to have them put on. thanks
To put them on yourself? or to get it done at a shop? If you do it yourself and have all the tools needed, it won't cost much, if you want it done at a shop, take it to one and get an estimate.
i want it done professionally. what i was trying to ask was what has every one else paid so i can get a general idea, because body shops in my area tend to over charge on a regular basis. thanks

I hear ya, I overcharge on on my estimates. That way when I take things out of it that aren't "necessary" it drops the price nicely and the customer thinks I'm cutting them a good deal, it's all part of selling a job. So you are putting on both left and right door skin? If so it's going to cost a decent amount, the car will need to be disassembled including the door, the quarters will need to be blended and so will the fenders. If I had to guess I'd say in the $1200.00 - $1500.00 range.

I really don't see anyone doing that job if you provide the door skins. I know I would'nt. It is like going into a restaurant and bringing your own food for them too cook. The profit in doing a door skin is in the door skin itself, not the labor. So they most likely will charge you more to do it than say if you bought the skin off of them.

The blending will not be necessary, the car is going through a full body restoration, new paint is the final step.
How is there no profit in labor? I consider labor to be 100% profit. how much could you possibly make off a $100 door skin from Honda? Even at 25% markup they only make 25 bucks.

SO that would be 50 in the shops pocket. More than the labor lol. I don't know what they give to do door skins on a CRX cause i never done one but you also have to factor in the bonding agent the seam sealer and the rust proofing all of wich is not free. Takeing apart the door to the shell takes about half an hour on most doors. Some are included in the labor of doing the door and some are not. After paying the employees and factoring the costs of the shop and everything, those 2 door skins may have made the shop 50 on the profit of the door and maybe 50 on the labor. But I could be wrong. If someone wants to make out an estimate and find out LOL.
