Default hf head replacement question

i just bought an hf crx the other week. i was told buy the original owner that it possibly has a valve seal leak and it is causing it to fail smog. the oil leak must be very minimal because i can only smell it through the exhaust but not able to see the difference in on the dip stick. my main question is, should i just replace the head with a known good one or, should i just buy new seals. whats the difference between the hf model head and the others anyways. thanks.

take the head off, have new seals put in and while its off have it machined down a little (increase compression some) and have a valve job and maybe a port and polish, if your looking for more power. seals are cheap jus do that. are u planing on doing this car up or is it jus dd.

im not 100% sure but i believe the reason why the HF is so fuel efficent is more ECU related.. (D15b1?)

you can get an D16a6 head (88-91 Civic/CRX Si) and that has a bit more agressive cam

then again you can just do your valve seals and swap the cam and leave your head on and not worry about doing the HG and machining
