Default Help - Installing pistons, rings, and rods

If I want to install new pistons, rings, and rods, do I have to take the engine out of the car to do this? I hear that you can do this from underneath, after removing the oil pan and stuff. How much does a shop usually charge for installing pistons, rods, and rings? Thanks for your help

it's a lot easier with the engine out of the car and on a stand. you cannot pull pistons out from the bottom. you need to measure bearing clearances and ring gaps to properly do it.
