Default Coupling the Tranny with the Engine

Hello guys! I'm new around here, I've been hanging at hondacivicforums but it seams like anytime a question else then "will this muffler fit my car" they've got no awnsers...

So here is my questions for you guys! I dropped the tranny out of my 91 hatch SI (d16a6 with L3 you guys knew that right?) to change the clutch but now I can't put it back. I believe it is because the splines are not aligned correctly. But how would I have someone to turn the engine (or the tranny for all I care) while I'm trying to put it there?

I also thought it might be because my engine is not perfectly horizontal. But I strongly believe it's the splines.

Any help will be strongly appreciated!!

did you use an alignments tool for the clutch disc? you can spin the input shaft really easy by hand if you need to move the splines...also make sure you didn't bend/ding the dowel pins sticking out of the block, might want to remove them and make sure the are true or replace them...it can be a little difficult to get that tranny back on sometimes so just keep at it and make sure you are going in straight on..twisting it can sometimes help getting it lined up...

It can be a real PITA sometimes. Make sure that the clutch is aligned perfectly first, then like mentioned above re-check the dowel pins. More than likely it is just gonna take you some time. A method i found that works well, line it all up and the screw in by hand a couple of the tranny bolts to hold it in place till you are able to "shove" it in.

Give it another try, having a second set of hands will really help.

It may help to line up the tranny better if you remove the radius rod......also a tad bit of grease will help the splines align.....good luck.......
