Default Easiest way to remove tranny?

Alright, so i bought a tranny from some dude on the recycler (advertised as an EX/SI tranny) and it turned out to be a shitty DX tranny. I, being the idiot that i am, bought the tranny without doing enough research - so i'm going to cut my losses.

Anyway, I bought a D16Y8 tranny for my d15b vtec, and i got myself a CM clutch and everything - it's ready to be installed....now for the question.

What's the easiest way to remove the tranny without having to take out the ENTIRE engine? I've changed the tranny with the engine off, but i don't have a hoist to pull it out again. So is there any special technique to get off the tranny while the engine is still in the bay? I was thinking maybe remove the passenger side, rear tranny, and front tranny mounts, and then letting the engine angle downward - would this be a good way to remove the tranny? Hmmm...well i need some tips because i might be changing it next weekend.

Remember, i wanna change the tranny WITHOUT REMOVING THE ENGINE from the engine bay. TIA

just unbolt the tranny, torque mounts, and the axles and it should come out. be sure to drain the tranny fluid before removing the axles.

#1. Do yourself a favor and get the flywheel resurfaced (I didn't and now with less than 10k miles on a new clutch, she is beginning to slip ).

Just unbolt and remove the shock fork; Unbolt the lower ball joint and give the LCA a whack to seperate it from the knuckle; Use something to PRY out both axles (do NOT pull them out); Undo the rear, mid/top, and front mounts/brackets; Unbolt the tranny and with the engine angled downward, pull her off.

I used an engine hoist to support the engine and a floor jack to remove the tranny.
