Whose all using PureOne oil filters? Please post
Well my oil change is about time in my Si and I was looking into these. Did yall have any problems with leaking or anything like that? How many miles are you on?
Also is this the right part #, PL14610?

i dont stick to a certain one, i usually go out and get whats cheap or the most i can get with the cash i have on me that certain day.
i wanted to stick to OEM honda filter but i didnt want to keep driving to the dealership. i used the Mobile1 filter, and its pretty good because its Mobile1 but its like 11 bucks each. Pureone was cheap at the time so i bought it. i actually went on my first road trip (900 miles round trip) and no problems. and i got the K&N now because i wanted to see how good that "grip" worked. lol
my next ones will be the HAMP filters from corsport

i use the PureOne Purolator on my prelude for the last 2 oil changes and am about to do a 3rd here soon, with about 55,000 miles on the engine. i like it. it works great and i havent had any problems with it,no leaks or anything.
I was just talking to SMo about these and when he tested them it was something like... the Civic Si idles at 10psi of oil pressure. The PureOne oil filter bypass opens at 7psi of pressure and the stock honda one opens at 11psi. I can talk to him and verify this for you if you want.

What I said was the Civic runs at around 10psi at idle, 50psi at 3,000RPM...
The Purolator Pure One filter for the s2000 has a 5lb bypass that opens completely at 7lbs (I know the website says different, I actually cut the filter open and tested it myself as I have with many others)...
The Pure One for the Civic starts to open at 12lbs...
You want the bypass valve to be closed unless there is a load on the engine (or the filter gets clogged), so at idle you want it to be closed...
Wix (Napa Gold) for the Civic opens at about 5lbs as well, so does the Hastings... I have a Mobil 1 extended Performance filter sitting at my house that I have yet to test... But I do recall the last Mobil 1 filter I cut open had a really strong bypass, but I forgot to test and see how many pounds of pressure it took to open...
I would say run the Purolator Pure One for the s2000 on race day and the Civic filter on any other day (even with spirited driving)...
Another note on Purolator, the s2000 filter has 60 pleats where the Civic filter has 51... But the Civic filter media is a little more then a 1/2" taller so that makes up for the missing pleats... The number of holes in the core of the filter that let the oil pass through the media are equal, both filters have 33 holes so they will both flow the same through the filter itself... The holes in the top of the s2000 filter that allows oil into the filter are a bit larger then the Civic filter, but this should not effect anything since they are still large enough... But once again, if you road race or auto-x this might be helpful for the quick bursts in oil pressure... Hard to say though, I wouldnt really count on it...
The Purlator Pure One filter costs about five dollars, which when compared to Mobil 1 is a steal since the Mobil filter costs ten dollars or more and they both filter about the same (I have read that Pure One filters better then Mobil but I do not have the equipment to test this, but it would not suprise me since Mobil uses a synthetic blend to extend the life of the filter)...
The Honda filter I cut open was a joke, it was a cheap Fram (cardboard end caps, paper media, crappy weak bypass valve)... Honda has three filters they use, one of the three is a quality filter the other two are not... Pennzoil did the same thing, they used three filters (at least one of which was Fram as well) and they are now currently phasing out the old stock and using Purlator made filters instead... They did not like the quality control that was coming out of the filters they were using... This should say something to you guys about the Honda filters, it really should...
