d16y7 swap, runs now, still shaky.
So as said, d16y7 in 96 civic dx, just direct replacement. New lower ball joints, new tie rod ends, got an alignment and new wheel bearings. I told the mechanic that I was getting a funny shaking in the lower rpms (like as soon as you shift until maybe 3000, sry no tach) so he test drove it and when he came back he said to check the motor/tranny mounts. Me and my friend that tightened them down used a torque wrench and double checked everything so the only thing I can figure is the rubber bushings are bad. If thats the case should I go the polyureathane route (the "upgraded ones") and can i change them out without having to pull the motor all over again? Its only been in there for <200 miles and I really dont want to go through that hassel again. Need input on all this. Thank you everyone and may hondas live forever!!! lol.
You don't need to remove the engine to replace the mounts. Replace the mount one at a time using a hydraulic jack to support/lower/raise the engine and trany as needed.
k thats what i was thinking. Yeah i was thinking it was a bad mount, so i had a friend pop the clutch while I watched and the engine jumped, and I mean jumped like 8 inches up. Its the driver side right that letting go. So i chained it down but planning on getting a new mount soon.
