Default knock sensor install

hi guys just wondering if i need to take any special steps before installing this sensor. i noticed that there was a bunch of silicone around the knock sensor that i purchased used. will i also need to drain my coolant or is this a no no?. its going on a gsr block and it still needs to be wired up but im not going to do the wiring.
thanx in advance to any replies

The silicone was probably on there to secure its on. I usually use blue loctite to make sure it doesnt back out. Theres no coolant there so dont worry about that, all it does is feels vibrations in the cylinders. Word of advice, DEEP socket owns
