List price is $2995 but you can get it cheaper from a variety of sources. H & A Accessories has them for $2390 right now http://www.handa-accessories.com/s2000.html .

I mentioned it bucks... Id buy it over the OE since it A looks better IMO because it pulls back and B serves a higher Aero purpose when used with the rear wing.

man, you have to have some serious cash to get a mugen one, that's why i stuck with the oem one. the honda hardtop looks so awesome, i think you should get it if you get an S2000. there are a lot of guys out there that just keep the soft top, but they don't put it down. you might want to try doing that for a couple months before you get a hardtop (remember, there's no sunroof on the hardtop).

I think that the OE one makes it look like a Miata. The Mugen one has a sleeker more pulled back look that I would be goign for. Oh sicne I would be taking out the soft top and the motors for it, I could use the lighter Carbon Fiber on instead. But thats just me...

Before you get the hardtop just try it out as a convertible first. (If you haven't had one before that is.) Before I got mine I was deadset on getting the hardtop, I didn't like convertibles and didn't think I'd drive it top down much. That lasted right up till the 2nd test drive. Now, if the top is up the storm outside better have a name!! <--shamelessly stolen from somebody over on s2ki.com.

I really don't understand why people buy a convertible and a hard top, these two things are contradicting themselves. First when you buy a convertible, a big chunk of the money you pay go towards the convertible, then you pay another 2000-3000 to give it a hard top. So, you are paying 7000-9000 more to defeat the whole purpose.

I would not get the hardtop being that I live in socal and the weather is great, if i was home in the midwest where winter is no joke i would definetly get the hardtop, and put it on for the bad season, then when spring rolled around i'd store it again.

the car comes only in a covertible. if the car came with the option of a hardtop or softop, i think there would be a lot of people (like myself and many others i know of) that would buy the hardtop version. since the car doesn't come in a hardtop from honda, we buy the hardtop seperately. since we buy it seperately, we're paying $2500, and not $7000-$9000.

I think you misinterpreted my point. When you buy the S2K, probably $5000 went towards the convertible, then you pay another $2500 for to get rid of the $5000 convertible investment. It is like paying $7500 for nothing. That's how I interpret it, but of course since S2k doesn't come with hardtop, that leave us no choice.

I got a hard top for my s2k cos where i live in Australia, winter is pretty cold. I paid $5500 (Australian dollars) which is about $2300 or so in US dollars. I reckon it loks pretty good and there is so much more visability through the rear window than the soft top. Also it's not that heavy, mine weighs 19kg (about 38-40lbs). If you live in a place where it is cold in the winter, you should definitely get a hard top.

hopefully someone will design a hartop with sunroof...

the only reason imma go with s2000 is because it'll take forever for me to afford a NSX.. i know early years are okay price but the hassle of goin through maintenance stuff prolly wont be worth it for me.... may be when i retire, that's when ill find time for it.. but for now.. i just want something that will separate me from the general crowd......

There should be some kind of hardtop exchange service between southern and northern hemispheres. They get winter during our summer, so if it wasn't so damn expensive to ship that thing, it could save some money. Like a time share. I realize this is a very stupid idea but oh well.
That's hilarious... since there's a good amount of interest in the m00gen cf hardtop, it really wouldn't be too expensive to go ahead and make a couple cf/kevlar weaves. It would actually probably be less that the $5000. Course, I'm sure I'd get sued for using the original m00gen dimensions as a frame. Just another thought out the door.

The reason is because
A they want to be different
B They want to race and some places require a hardtop over the roll bar. Did we mention its more aerodynamic with a hardtop than a rag top down?
C Winter time sucks with a ragtop.
D Buying hte hardtop is cheaper than a new car for the winter

i'm sure no one told him about those things, so that's why he didn't understand.

especially points C and D. I also think that the S2000 looks pretty good with a hard top.
