nissan 240sx into nissan skyline R32?
call me ricer............................................. ..........................but i really want to do this. and im willing to sell the k24/k20 EJ1 and the goddamn harley for this car.
proposal:
-take a stock 1989-1991 nissan 240sx strip it down to bare metal, remove lights/taillights etc drop rear end and all suspension/brake **** etc
-the R32 skyline rear subframe and bolt into the s13 240sx chasis and will drop the rear end 2.5-3 inches
-swap in a RB20det motor (common swap in the nissan 240sx world)
-R32 front end conversion (verrrrryyyyy common in that scene)
-RHD conversion (again somewhat common)
-R32 rear tail lights (not common at all)
-bride bucket seats
-nismo harness
-meagan racing front suspensions and random strut bars i make in my garage XD
-engine modifications
-walbro fuel pump
-seam weld the chasis
-infiniti G35 JDM "skyline" badging (silver instead of sunkin in like r32 skylines)
just an idea i stirred up while starring at an R32 in the parking lot of my college, waitng for my welding class to start. after my bodyshop class ended

heres a modified 240sx........note the rear window and generaic shape is simmilar to the skyline. with a simple front end conversion im half way there
also note that the RHD conversion and the RB20det swap is already completed on this car along with the skyline graphite grey and the OEM R32 spoiler on this 240sx

ya its still in the pipe dream stage LOL
but if i can avoid the use of a REAL r32 itd be easier i live in california LOL
and id rather cut weld (i know how to
) than to do paper work and hire a lawer (i dont know how to XD)

I would see it actually being a lot harder to do the paperwork for a drivetrain/interior swapped 240sx, than an imported R32.

with the amount of work going into the body, why not just run the full AWD drivetrain at that point out of the R32. I believe Knight Racing even has a turn key solution to this, and I know full race has it as well...
instead of cutting everything off the r32 and welding it to the s13, why not cut the VIN plates off the S13 and weld them to the r32.
i've seen the visual conversion done, and you can tell it was a 240sx. The AWD swap is doable, but $$$, because the skyline has double a-arms and the 240 is macphearson strut.

my buddy and i went to canada and got an r32 gts-t for 5800 canadian legal. he just drove it across the border for us and his buddy drove him back. drive it with trip permits and a bill of sale. hes been pulled over and let go.

what are the steps if i were to do what most of you were suggesting?
buy the car
clear customs
crash test ???????
hire an attorney
dmv registration (hassle)
inurance (hassle to even find a company)
im a 19 year old this month
engine modification im guessing this is where you pull the turbo, retune, new cat, muffler for emissons (ive never imported a car ever and im not a genius with smog ****)
--------------------------------------------------------
with the civic i have a d16z6 in the corner that i used to have in there and i smogged it last year. then yanked it through the k24 build in it, hooked up the wet kit, and didnt notify insurance the dmv or any of that ****, on paper i have a stock 93 civic coupe. i wanted to do that with the 240sx
good luck.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I hope you know that getting insurance for a completely custom-built car will be 10x harder than a car that was produced from a manufacturer, since the insurance company won't be able to get records on the car.

if you get anything get a rb25, the 20 is a different in alot of ways and you will not like hunting down the parts. 25s are pretty common now and alot of shops are now carrying their basic parts.
I think you would have a blast with a turbo s13, whether its a RB,SR or what ever. they are just fun cars to build and drive. for around 6K you can put together a high 12sec track friendly car that will put a smile on your face every time you get on it.
I am a little biased though.. we are are a nissan shop with too many 240's at the shop now. 6 sr20det's, 2 ca18dets, 1Ka24det, 1 NA ka24de and one that im building into a rental drift car with a SOHC ka turbo motor. people just dont know what to say when they pull up and see 10-15 240's sitting in the lot on any given day. I have to explain to them that honda shops have civics and integras lined up, we just happen to have all the 240's in the city as customers.
Ps be very careful about the vin tag issues, i had a customer about loose his car for good over this, he did a r33 front end on it, lost the title and non of his vins matched, the car sat in impound for a few weeks, and he got it back barely.
