Default installing axles

tonight i tried putting in my axles in my 5th gen and got totaly stumped. i checked the helms and it didnt help me at all. so can someone please explain to me how axles are supposed to be installed? the only reason i got the old ones out is cause i cut them in half to get the motor out.

i took out the shocks and springs but the axles still wont go in place seems like there is no room. what else do i need to take off to get these dam things in place.

if someone could post up some pics that would be great.

ok thanks!

You have to pop the lower ball joint out, that will seperate the knuckle from the LCA. This way you have room to put the axle spline into the hub.

^yup. Your not even suppose to take your springs and shocks out when changing an axle. all you have to do is remove 2 bolts, and the castle nut on the bottom below the rotor. A good trick is to wedge a socket wrench beside the balljoint (not touching so you don't pinch it) and then jump high in the air while holding onto the frame of your car onto the rotor. It will seperate the knuckle from the LCA. After this you can just pick the rotor up and move it out of the way and swap the axle in.

there are two other bolts you must undo as well. i forgot there names though. also, you might not realize but you might be turning it in the wrong direction. its upside down, which means your going to be turning the reverse from normal. use a socket wrench just to see which is the correct way. i did not do this the first time and i was actually tighting it

you can either remove the lower ball joint and tie rod , or remove the upper ball joint and tie rod. either way will give you enough clearance to get it in, you just need enough room to swing the knuckle away.
