Electrical Problem Help If You Can
Hey everyone I just bought myself a 1991 crx si and well it runs like a champ, but im having issues with the electrical system. The problem with it is that everytime you got to hit the brakes the seatbelt light comes on and it starts to ping like when you jump in the car also the brake lights are out. Just off the top of anyones head do you have an answer. Im thinking bout checking the brake light switch and well im not really in the mood to trace every single wire.
Trace the wire coming from the brake switch, it sounds like it's grounding out on something. This may or may not be that's keeping your brake lights out. If your dash lights are out as well, it's a fuse.
Remove rear plasric panel and inspect the looms of wires. There may be a short to ground and I bet money that the brake light fuse is out. Looms of wire tend to vibrate and rub against each other exposing the copper wire that is a short. I AM sure this is the problem there was a honda crx tech video back in the day in early 90's. Same symtoms like yours. I will TRY to find it in my catalog.
Yeah i was thinking that it was a short also, by the way the brake light fuse wouldn't be the same as the fuse for the horn now would it. Unless im just not looking in the right place. I can't seem to find it. Except for it says stophorn on the horn fuse. I had to pull that out since it was also tripping off the horn. But thanks for the tip. If you got anymore helpful tips that might help me dont hesitate to help me out. thanks

So, it's not a fuse then?
Have you traced the brake switch wiring or tested it with a DMM yet?
