Default D15B2 wanna be a Z6

Quick question

What are the differences between a D15B2 shoftblock, and a D16Z6.

Obviously the cilinder diameter, and the little oil restrictor for the oil pressure, but are the cranckshaft differents, If so, are they interchangeable?

The things is that in my country is very hard to get one of those engines, and very expensive, but I grab a Z6 engine out of a wrecked car, the head was perfect, but the block has a huge hole on the front, so basically that block is history.

I'm thinking on doing some mods to my D15B2, but I need to know if they are so differents or no, because I will like to make it 1600cc and use the Vtec head, and use the Z6 crankshaft.

I know this is not something common to ask, is kind of weird for you guys, but where I live we are used to do this kind of swaps between different models, trying to get some power without expending a fortune.

thanks for your help

it is very common actually

it is called a Mini-Me setup. A vtec head on a non-vtec block (IE D16a6 or D15... etc)

It works fine... you will have to do some searching to find out what timing belt to use and how to control your vtec

as for the z6 headgasket and timing belt. There is a vtec rpm activated switch available on summit racing for about 50 bucks you can pick up,or you can do it right.Judging by the d15b2 you are obd0,in which case you should pick up a obd0 pr3 and have it chipped to run a d16z6 base map,and have the knock sensor and secondary o2 sensor removed. Then run the wires from the ecu to the vtec solenoid. If you need any more help let me know.

Thanks a lot for the info, actually I got the p28 ecu from the salvage yard, and also the harness.

Another question, I was thinking on swapping the d16 pistons to the d15b2 block, is there any difference besides the cilinder diameter?
Are the crankshaft compatibles, can they be swapped from one block to the other?
