Default My 1977 custom bike!

got done (for the most part) restoring an old school 1977 Kawasaki KZ750.

I am planning on converting the rear shocks to a single shock setup using a GSXR1000 rear unit and mounting it parallel to the seat in the void. I am also trying to locate some redwall tires for it.....but that is a task upon itself.

sorry for the shitty pic, taken with phone

Looks pretty good.

I say if you swap to the gsxr shock, cut the seat and subframe way down, and it'll look badass.

the seat and subframe have already been cut way down.....9.25 inches to be exact

I may remove the rear seat portion but that would be the most I would go

I'm also thinking of putting another rotor up front for dual rotors and also contemplating making some clip on handlebars for it.

Got a 1/4 turn dirtbike throttle on the way so that I can remove all of the forward control crap since they no longer have any guts in it.......waste of space.

the bike that I really want is a 1974 Norton Commando 850 but they are rediculously hard to find and way too expensive.

My buddy has an 850 that he's owned since new. I'll take a pic.

And to the guy with the 75 z1, you'd be crazy not to keep it all OE. 77 750 mod away.. that thing looks nice. I like that first pic up top.

Even so, better to find a later model to mod. These things are getting hard enough to find that mismatched numbers bikes are still pulling good money.

Here's one of my pop's Kawis, rough but still valuable-

I think I am going to do a kz900 build up here. we'll see, it all hinges on cash flow and desire. I have a clear picture in my mind of where I want the build to go though

How much did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking? I'm doing a late 60's Suzuki T20. Trying to get it to look like a racer.

I found it in someones basement, I was actually looking for an old Honda. Picked it up for a little over $200. It ran but not very well due to the fact it had been sitting for almost 20 years. The bike has only 22,400 miles on it, but I rebuilt the engine anyways.

I will be putting some Dunlop RM-501's on it soon and I will be doing a rear suspension conversion and I am thinking of putting a more modern set of shocks up front with some clip ons.

I will most likely be doing some track days with this bike with my friend Kevin. He owns KWS Motorsports in Charleston, SC. They have a factory funded Suzuki race team. (hence why most of the shocks and whatnot are Suzuki parts )

I have some brand new rear shocks that may fit. I forget which brand but they were for 73 z1 IIRC. Let see if I still have them.

I have a GSXR-1000 rear shock that I am putting on it. I will be doing a single rear shock conversion and eliminate the factory uprights.

The new shock setup will be located under the seat parallel to the ground using a cantilever system. I am also thinking of putting a set of inverted tube GSXR-600 front forks and crowns and also outfitting it with a steering dampener. I have made measurements and the only modification I will have to do is make a stem and a custom axle to fit my wheel and a bracket for my front caliper......or if I can get the spacing right I will be able to use a GSXR dual piston caliper.

Oh, I meant the rear shocks for MS's project 900. They are brand new 'works performance' shocks.

That mono setup sounds good. If you don't mind hacking stuff up, its the way to go. Its amazing how cheaply those take offs go for on ebay. $10 for a modern adjustable rear OE shock. Some of the late model OE sport stuff isn't that bad either.

Kevin is hooking me up with Ohlns (sp?) reworked track stuff (free dawg!!) and Vortex Racing triples and clip ons. I talked to him about it earlier today.

I an also thinking about making some machined controls for a better riding position. I already have a local seat maker hooking me up in trade for some stock parts that I have (he has the same model bike) and I have to give him the parts that I take off......no biggie, they suck anyways

I forget who makes the pipes but I am getting some nice canisters for a CBR1000RR and modifying them to fit under the bike where my "mufflers" are now.

they are costing me $500 bux tho can't get everything in trade or free
