Default replaced tstat, lower hose cold, wtf? b16a in 96 civic

hey guys. I recently had problems with my car not able to reach normal operating temperature so i replaced the tstat and that was the culprit. seems that the old one was stuck open.

i did not flush the system but i did bleed the coolant till there was no more bubbles.

the upper rad hose is hot and pressurized, but the lower hose seems cold even after some hard driving.

is this normal? i live in canada and its kinda colder outside. maybe the tstat is doing its job?

hope its not the water pump.

My temperature hardly goes up while driving now that its cold. Try letting you car idle for sometime, the temperature should go up.

The top rad hose would not have pressure if the water pump was bad (unless it is and the hose is being pressurized by a head gasket leak).
