Default JDM b16 intake manifold help! Not sure what this is or what it does

I have a crx b16 and i noticed on the intake manifold it has this, what looks like a second dashpot. Not sure what it is or what it does, I looked in the english version of the VTEC supplement guide and i guess the UK didn't use these on their manifolds. So its a jdm thing

Question is what is it, WHat does it do? Do i need it and results if i take it off and make or find a block off plate for it??

Isn't that part of the FITV? People have removed it, but I don't know exactly how. Try looking under fast idle throttle/thermo valve here, or on google.

I took them both off and it looks alot cleaner. I still gotta do a few little thing, but I am going to change over to an H22 Throttle body right now. I will only have after pics as I don't have my camera right now, and I don't want to wait.

I have a first Gen B16 and I dont even have that on my engine. So I don't see why you would have a problem

Yeah its weird some jdm 16 have it some don't. I wonder if they produced these first and then stopped or the other way around. Maybe these are helpful?? We need some more people in here

It's called a dashpot. Basically, what it does is smooth out the transition from when you're giving it gas to dropping out of gear and idling. It slows down the RPM drop.

JDM CRX SiR B16As came with one.. (5 million series)

89-91 JDM Integras came with two. (1 million series)

To the OP, I'd wager that you actually have an Integra B16A. My brother had an Integra one, and I had a CRX one, and his had that dashpot in the middle of the IM and mine didn't.

I knew it was a dashpot but i wasn't sure what it controlled. What problems would this cause if it malfunctioned?? Would it cause a hard start up when motor is cold?

No problems at all. It's strictly a luxury thing. It just slows down the drop in RPM when you take your foot off the gas and take it out of gear. That's all. It has nothing to do with start up or idle. I took mine off a long time ago and never looked back.
