There are times when I'm at a red light and I find it hard to get it into first gear. I normally have to step on the clutch and throw it into 2nd, 3rd, or reverse before I can slip it into 1st. Does anyone know what causes this?

so I guess it has something to do with bent selector forks? Can anyone confirm?
