99 Accord wiring problem ( Lighting )
Subject: 99 Accord coupe V6 115k miles
Problem: The dash lighting and parking lights will not shut off.
I did a quick analysis and found if I removed one of the connectors on the passenger side fuse block I could kill the lights. This connector also took out the sunroof and power windows.
The wiring prints in the Haynes manual seem useless. Does anyone have factory prints for the lighting system? email altamore at h-o-t ma-il dot com
What is weird is with the connector removed all the lighting, headlights and turn signals included, still work normal. I thought it may have something to do with the remote locks, but that system also still works and the lights flash when unlocking.
I'm thinking I have a wire shorted to to ground. But without good prints I'm not looking forward to digging into this mess.
Thanks for any and all help.
Matt

There is a fuse (I know because I just had to replace it) that controls "small lighting" that's under the hood.
Turn signals would work, headlights and high beams, but interior dash lights , fogs, and corners wouldn't.
Most likely one of your wires is shorting to ground.

I'll check out that circuit.
Whats strange is all the corner lights, side markers and dash lighting still work as designed.
Does anyone know if there is a relay dedicated to that circuit and where its located? A factory wiring print of the " small lighting " circuit would be much appreciated.

No, the car was sitting for about a year. The previous owner may have had an after-market stereo in it at one time.
Still looking for pin-outs of fuse panels and factory wiring.

T/S it down to a short between the radio main power contact and the light dimming input. Took the radio apart and found a penny shorting the two terminals. Everything worked fine once I removed it.
