Default Car for sale...expletive fake?

So I emailed this guy about a clean *** crx for cheap. He wrote back with this:

Hello,

The car is located in Seattle, WA and it is in perfect condition, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches, dings, special marks whatsoever. It has 80K miles and the VIN # is :. It has a clear title ready to be signed and notarized on your name.
The price is $2,870 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental US. There are no other costs regarding this transaction.
The transaction will be closed only through a 3rd party and this way we will both be protected. My time is limited due to my job in the army so I decided to use a service from Worldpay. To begin the transaction I'll need your full name and shipping address, I will forward the details of our transaction to Worldpay and then you will receive an invoice from them. The car will be shipped insured to your location with DAS and you will have 5 days for inspection.

Best regards,

David Klein

Sounds like BS?

I think it might be, but who knows? Might be real....I have heard of Worldpay, and have heard that scammers use that to get the money and then not deliver. Let me know what you guys think though.

Car supposedly has bar'd gsr, and is immaculate as well as being posted on craigslist in numerous cities in california (ie LA, Fresno, etc.)

Yea, that's what I'm thinking...I'm gonna email and tell him that I want to pick it up or say I have family there and they will pick it up with cash...see what his response is.

Scam, steer clear, should be obvious. Have you heard of Worldpay as a reputable institution?

Also, I mean, frankly, $3000> to ship and purchase an immaculate CRX? C'mon.

Not to this day, no. That's why i said I have heard about it, but through people talking about scammers and how they "pay". I also get those emails after posting on craigslist that want you to ship and will pay for shipping and blah blah blah. Usually says "will pay through WorldPay".

Yea I figured, but sometimes, people have to go to drastic levels when in need. I have seen cars worth $5K+ sell for like 2K just 'cuz the seller needed the money outrageously badly.

So does it not matter that he actually gave me the VIN? Anyone have a carfax account so I can run the VIN completely?

Also I just emailed the guy back. We will see if this is a scam or not. He replied to my first email within a day, so let's see what happens...

Haahahahahahaa.......Ive never been scammed. I do my homework before transactions. And I NEVER buy **** from people I don't know over teh intrawebnetz.

Unless I could personally see the car before sending ANY money, and not just pictures....or have a friend see it.....I would NEVER buy what seems too good to be true.

Ok, so the guy just emailed me back, to my surprise (took like 30 minutes to get a response). He said he can have the car shipped to me and I can inspect the car before I pay for it...something sound wrong now? I guess the company, WorldPay, does shipping and I guess they will ship me the car and before the delivery guy leaves the car, I will have an oppurtunity to look over the car and then if I decide to buy it, I pay the guy that delivered the car. Any input guys?

Good deals are out there, but this one definately looks like a scam.

What I would do is try to see if there are any reputable forum users around that area that would be able to check out the car and maybe send you pics. Paypal them some $ for their gas and time or something. I'm going to be in the area next week picking up a CRX of my own, if you get an address and pay for the gas I'll check it out for ya
