i have some wires that are connected like the image shown. is this normal? there are two sets of wires that are like this.

red circle = RCA style wire which has two wires thats insulated from each other, you can see it in the image

blue circle = same as above

yellow circle = the outer layer of the wires (wire circled in blue and wire circled in red) are connected to make a new wire.

a friend of mine who has a prelude of the same kind said that his is not like this

 

you should never mangle the ecu wiring like that.

those are shielded wires. The one coming out from the sheath is grounded. They usually cover the knock sensor and the tdc, ckp, and ckf sensors.

 

i got the car like this. just like my other recent posts, i never noticed all this til i went turbo cuz i never really had to work on my car. im uncovering all these things now.

 

Thats unfortunate. I guess try to clean up and re-twist all the wires so they're not a huge mess. Good luck with that...

They've been undone?

As long as the wire is still grounded, they should be fine, that may just be how they were supposed to go.

 

the two wires thats circled the biggest (red and blue) have bare wires around them that looks like someone connected them to become a new wire (the wire in the small yellow circle). this wire then runs into who knows where, not into the PCM tho.

 

That should be normal, I think I remember my 4g being kinda like that. They probably combine then connect to ground.
