where to buy syncros
i have a '97 accord ex f22b1/5 sp manual trans, i cannot get into 5th gear without grinding and forcing it in, and sometimes has the same with 3rd gear. so im looking for new syncros for 3rd and 5th gear. ive called all local parts stores, with no luck, even called the stealership and they quoted me $175 for the 5th gear, and $230 for 3rd gear syncros. the guy on the phone sounded like he had no idea what i was talking about. anybody know where i can buy syncros by themselves, or with the bearings for less, or even a complete rebuild kit thats less than what was quoted from the stealership?
thanks
thanks

Try local tranny shops. If you wanna do the work yourself, find out if they'll sell you the parts you need. (most likely not JUST the synchros)
Grab the phone book and make some calls. Be resourceful

How long has it been since you changed your tranny oil? If you havn't in a long time, or are running something besides Honda MTF of Syncromesh, try changing to one of them. It can make a night and day difference in the shifting.

your best bet IMO is to just find a new tranny and granny the one you have untill you have time to install a new one......you be way over yor *** in labor and parts for a much simpler caost effective on of replacing it.......accord trannies are a dime a dozen usually can get one for 200-450 bucks..thats what I'd do

That sounds more like the prices for the full sleeve and gear sets.
As mentioned, gearspeed.
Go the following thread and PM Marauder.

Now, it may not be just your syncros. I thought that was my problem and ordered syncros. Turned out to be something else.

The far right end piece of #9 and #8. The teeth inside were worn down. Can't buy just those pieces either. Had to get the full sleeve and full gear set.
