Somebody has to know the answer to this HID question.
I know that HIDs perform better than any ice blue/halogen bulb, but I have a question that just won't leave my mind, I'd feel a bit more comfortable in purchasing HIDs if this question was answered:
The USDM Integra has projector housings, correct? Would Phillips/Hella/etc aftermarket HIDs look and perform as good as reflector housings? I'm considering HIDs and a bit afraid that the tiny projectors would not perform or look equally to, say, a 96-00 Civic headlight housing/various H4 conversions/most of the stock HID cars that are designed to work with reflector housings. Could anybody elaborate on the projector vs. reflector to convince me to get HIDs?
Also, the company I'm ordering from, SPW, have "5000k HIDplus" kits that are made by Hella. I could also get Phillips, but these are what I have in mind.

There is a group buy goin on right now for phillips HID's. 4300k. 399 plus shipping. IMHO projectors put out a better light spread and cutoff than any reflector housing, and look better with HID's.
reflector housing w/ HID = blinding everyone in front of you.
projector housing does give sharp cut-off point for the HID beam pattern.

This is not true. Almost every stock HID cars that are designed to work with projector housing headlight. especially for the european cars ( which they call "ellipsoid").
I think Acura TL has reflector housing with HID

Got mine from Trevor at visualdynamics over a year ago. I can't drive a car without them now. You're agonizing way too much about it. It is by far the most worthwhile real world benefit modification IMO.

you will get the best beam pattern, spread, and intensity from HIDs through a projector housing. Ever take a look at a D2R bulb?? (HID bulb for relfector housings) it has a metal shield on it for glare, that shield lowers light output. and whenever you do a HID conversion, no matter how good it is, you're beam pattern will never be the same, be prepared for lots of glare, regardless of conversion manufacturer.

I have done projector conversion even in cars that don't come with projectors. Simply because projector housing outputs light in the best way without hotspots on the ground and a sharp cutoff to avoid glare. I have retrofitted projectors in my '94 Camry and my 1.6EL already.
well, im not very happy with my integra projectors and an aftermarket HID kit..but ive had it for over 3 years now, and heres the difference.. my friend has the J-OEM 2002 ITR HID headlights (black housing RSX headlights made for HID) with some gay tinted "5000K" mccolloch kit, and i took a comparison pic..here
left side.. my projectors, they arent too good because they're made for halogen..but still better than halogen bulbs.. and right side is those RSX headlights that are made for HID.. big difference.. the Factory HID housings put out almost a blanket of light, with no glare...while mine put out 2 beams, and are kinda blinding.. the J-OEM ITR front for the DC2 with the OEM HID is also like the image on the right.. same pattern. beautiful

Nobody will dispute that OEM housings designed for HID will always be superior compared to aftermarket HID in halogen projector housings.
Comparing the 96spec JDM front clip with aftermarket HID vs the 98spec OEM HID is of NO comparison.
98Spec OEM blows it outta the water with its clarity, next to no backdazzle and the cutoff is razor sharp compared to the glare and scatter of light the Halogen housing produces.
But I dun think anybody will argue that HID no matter what housing is better than halogen....

I just got my HID 4300k kit from trevor.
The price was great (399) and the light output is wonderful. Will never go back to reg hyper whites!

gay mccolloch kit? d00d...mccolloch makes for mercedes
i noticed my hid bulbs aren't that great either. i got 6000K bulbs and they are definately way more dim than factory bulbs. also factory kits tend to spread alot more wider than aftermarket kits. i think i should invest in some 4300K bulbs, i'm getting sick of the "purple" look.

6000K is for guys who want their HID for the looks, not performance.. go with the 4300K for sure..
I'm not really up with the degrees of color but what tint of color would a 8000K bulb give out??
how about 6000K???
or 4300K ???
Thanks guys!

6000K is like a brighter version of the PIAA plasma..very purple and dim on the ground..
4300K is a pure white color up close, and very OEM HID looking from a distance, the ground is very bright.
6000K and up, is all just for the "LOOK" of the OEM HID..since the optics on OEM HID cars reflect that purpleish color that halogen lenses dont produce.. so if you want the light, get the 4300K, if you want the look, and possibly tickets, get the 6000K and up..
the higher the tempature (xxxxK) the more "colorful" it will be.
I'm using 4300K HID kit from "Trevor(toronto)" .... all I got is pure white
I had seen 6000K....it mix with blue and white (more for look IMO).
Anything above it should be pretty funny looking.
