Default H23A DOHC VTEC into EG?

i got this guy selling me a h23 DOHC VTEC complete swap for just 800. ecu harness tranny axles da whole 9 except da motor mounts. he told me it was a prelude motor. but i thought the h23 is just a DOHC. but i think theres a DOHC VTEC one but thats from a '97+. he said he it was a '96. one of my boy wanted me to go b18b instead but i dont know what to do. help me out. haha

H23 is a non VTEC motor, if he has a VTEC head on then its from the H22 and did sort of a LSVTEC type deal but with preludes. Get what motor you want not what people want you to get.

they have an h23 vtec...its a jdm motor. thats the only way that a h23 can be vtec....unless they did swap vtec heads on non vtec block. i have never seen an h23 vtec. so if you can get a true jdm h23 vtec for 800 bucks....go for it!! good luck!!

mounts = more than half the $$ of the "complete swap" unless you fab

i really dont want da h23 but i figure it was a good deal so i dont want it to pass me by. i wanted a b16 but thats like maybe 1500+ or something like that. idk. but prelude motor pulls pretty hard i heard.

yeah im hopin its the jdm one cause those come with more hp. but im just hopin its not da accord engine you knoe or just the dohc like the '96 prelude si

oh really? he say he can get me da mounts for like 400 i think. he say its just as good as the hasport. he already has a h23 on his '97 civic coupe.

If the motor is in good shape, buy it. You could always sell it if you change your mind, especially if it's a true h23 vtec.

Good advice. I had a boosted h23 non vtec and it was great. Torque monsta!!
