turning the a/c off
1) Turn vehicle off.
2) Turn fan **** off.
3) Turn temperature **** all the way to the left (blue area).
4) Turn vent **** to panel only setting (next to max a/c).
5) Hold down both air recirculation button and a/c button while starting car.
6) Continue holding for 7 seconds until air recirculation button stops flashing.

holy freaking crap. I think that's how they launched the first mission to the moon. What year is this procedure for?! I just hit the AC button on mine to make it turn off in defro. mode.

Try again. It took me a couple of times to do it before it would work. Remember to hold down both air recirculation and a/c button while starting the car. And continue to hold them down. So you'll want to put the key to the start position with your left hand while you're holding the buttons down, and then start it.

ROFL, Turn the car on, then turn it off. Make sure the car is completely off, take the key out and set it up. You have to hold both buttons down for awhile. It's definitely longer than 7 seconds. I held mine down for a good 20 seconds if I remember correctly.
