90 Hatch Died on Hwy while driving
Hi I have a 1990 STD Hatchback. And the other day I was driving it and all of a sudden it bogged down when I was in fourth gear. So I down shifted then it died and wouldn't start again. Sounds like its not getting fire. But the fuel pump isn't coming on and the ECU isnt throwing any codes at all. So I have absoulutley no idea what the hell is wrong with it hopefully someone has a idea. Let me know
thanks
:_:EDIT:_: Also that same day earlier the turn signals quit working and my temp gauge and fuel gauge also quit working. and i have checked all fuses so i dont know. any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

It's kinda of a long shot but I've had the same things happen to me when my alternator gave out (while driving...twice). Do you have power at all? Have you tried pop starting or jumping the car?
Something most people don't seem to understand is that while the car is on/running, the alternator is what provides power to the electrical systems of the car. When it happened to me, basically all the things I had on were shutting off one by one (radio, alarm, headlights grew dim, car felt sluggish, etc).
First things first, do you have power? If you do, crank the engine and check for spark/fuel. If not, try to jump start it off another car.

^^ i was thinking that too. once i threw a supercharger belt, and all the gauges didnt work.... but the car was still driveable so, i didn't figure it applied to his case.
maybe so. he could have had a weak battery too.

Come to think of it, I actually had my alternator belt come off after the first time I had replaced my alternator and basically the same thing happened (things stopped working one after another until the car itself died). Guess we'll see what the OP says...
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll give you an update when im able to work on the vechicle this weekend. Looks like i have somethings to try out. Any other ideas would be great. I can only work on the car on weekends since its about 30 miles away from where i live. Hopefully these idea's get it goin.
I had the same thing happen to me , and my motor actually died, I tried all kinds of **** and finally got it to start got fuel and spark and started to try to move it, and it wouldnt go over 5 mph, then died again
the motor blew, cause I sent it to a shop and they told me I needed a whole motor...cause the something with the crank so good luck

This happened to me with my old d16a6 dizzy. The screw that actually holds the rotor in place came off and tow it to jackson heights in ny and i bought loctite and applied it to screw thread and never came off. Torque to 9ft lbs. SAdly the d16a6 is gone.
OK DO THIS. turn your key into the on possition. The check engine light will come on for a moment and then turn off. When the light turns off you should hear a click. Try it again and you will notice a very faint buzz before it clicks.
IF YOUR CAR DOES NOT CLICK WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS OFF....
It's your main relay which is located under the dash on the drivers side.
I know that you said you checked it but being a noobee you may be confusing the relay in the fuse box...
Don't feel bad if this is the case. I personally carry around 3 relays because mine konk out all the time. I just unplug and through another one in

i guess your right then lol...i must have been mistaken because thats what i thought the main relay was lol. So under the dash where is this main relay located at cuz ive looked but im noob and cant find it lol...
It's mounted above your hood release under the dash. If you have a coin holder then you have to remove it to get to it. It's a small black or grey retangle box about 1.5"x2.5"

Ah, beat me to it.
Check for 4 things with a non-starting motor:
Spark
Fuel
Compression
Timing.

expletive that happened to me after that happened i kept throwing code 8 which is tdc sensor so i had to get a new dizzy from the junkyard and it worked...i swapped the cap and rotor...good luck
100% its not dizzy ive replaced the whole thing. ive done put new plugs and wires fuel filter, all new gaskets on it. so im gonna try this main relay thing and see what happens because its not throwing any codes at all
