Rock + Glass= :(
I got a rock kicked up and hit my windshield today. The impact mark is about 4mm in diameter, and it has 2 cracks extending from each side that are about 3-5mm long each. Well, I don't feel like replacing the windshield yet over this and I dont want the crack to spread. I am aware of these glass chips and cracks kit that Autozone and the likes sell. Do these products really work? Do you guys recommend anything else for me to do?

You can get it filled at a local shop for like 20 bucks. (that is, if it's fillable). Certain cracks are too big and can't be filled and will eventually need replacement, others are too small and filling won't do anything.
ive had 3 rock chips filled at a local glass shop. they come out pretty good. i bought the car with 2 chips and had them filled immediatly, then i was out on a s2k meet drive and a rock got kicked up and gave me my 3rd chip. these windows cant handle the littlest pebble. i used to take bigger rocks off my integra windshield all the time and nothing happened, but not with the s2k. i think it has something to do with the angle of the glass.

And speed. I had a little pebble hit my windshield when i was going 100+, and had a little spiderweb, but it's been like that now for 2-2.5 years and hasn't expanded. And it wasn't fillable or would be useless because it was so small.

L O ******* L. You really think that some company would ever help you fix your windshield?
1. You have no proof the rock came from their truck
2. This is what insurance is for
3. Rocks are a road hazard, back of the truck's ***.
That being said, I got a chip in my windshield, somehow, but not from a rock. It was in the black border on the bottom of the window and I wasn't going to do anything, but the cracks spready very quickly, on the order of maybe 1"/day. Needless to say I had to replace it soon.

They actually will pay for your windshield. My cousin had a cracked windshield and had the trucking co pay for it. Just get the liscense plate # and then call the police to get a report. The Trucking Co sent him a check for the $2-300 instead of dealing with the BS.

i have the best solution... go to a nearby golf course or range, park near a fairway, leave for an hour, come back and ohhh my you have a cracked windshield due to a golf ball, go to GM, complain, get it fixed by them and ur a happy camper...
now i say this half joking because i used to work at a course and my buddy did this and it actually worked... saved him $300
ohh and if u do replace the glass make sure you replace it with an OEM one

this happened to my friends civic and the officer said basically tough ****, its not his fault and go through insurance... the only way the company will pay for it is if it falls from the truck, ie: hauling stone and one lands on ur windshield...
this is similar to people that have snow and ice on there car in the winter and are too ****** lazy to brush it off... if it flies off and does damage to ur car, u can sue/have them accountable... also, if they cause an accident they are responsible

I believe you, its just that I am incredulous that they would pay.

you can have the glass repaired, but you will still be able to see where it was repaired. i tried it once, and i wasn't really happy with the results.
