d16z6 stuttering acceleration
i have a 90 si hatch with a d16z6 in it complete swap. i just bought it like three days a go. when i accelerate, at low rpms the motor feels like its almost starving for fuel. but then once it gets out of it it reves right up (the problem occurs when free reving and while driving it had a adjustable fuel pressure regulator on it but due to smog i took it off and i assume the computer needs to control fuel at idle. i have not checked plugs yet or timing what do you guys think thanks ~daniel
i am having similar issues with my EX. the only difference is that I only experience it in gear, below 3000 RPM. After 3k, the engine runs fine. I have already replaced the dizzy cap and rotor and checked the ignition timing. i think the next thing on my list is spark plugs, followed by plug wires, and then the fuel filter.
i was wondering if you had any insight on your problem recently...

I have this same problem with my 97 Civic. I had the dealer go over it and they could not find any problems. They replaced the fuel filter (which increased my MPG and HP as I had the original filter in there for 170,000 miles) but there was no improvement in the stuttering. The dealer's exact quote was "This is normal behavior for a car this old". They said that after I paid them $180 for their time and parts.
I still have the problem and it drives me crazy. I think it is the ignition coil but will wait until it fails completely...
