Replace a good headgasket?
I have the head off of my d16a6 right now that has a metal y8 headgasket on it. Now I have the head off because I'm going to replace the rings but do I need to replace the headgasket also if it wasn't leaking?
Replace the gasket trust me once you have the head off you want to replace it. I've never came across a reusable headgasket. They are not that expensive.
I have heard you can reuse metal headgaskets if you respray it with copper spray. I haven't done it myself though, and if you already have the motor apart, it's best to replace anything/everything you can while it's open. The good thing is, whether or not you can reuse the old metal one, a new one is just under $40 or so at the dealer. Unless a good majority of people say you can reuse it (based on their own personal experience) play it safe and get a new one.
I probably will replace the headgasket I just really didn't want to because I just bought a headgasket for this thing not two weeks ago before I figured out the true problem.
Any other opinions?

Do not do this!!! Some of the performance shops around here used to spray that copper coating on used headgaskets to reuse them. The copper ended up getting into the cooling system and would burn up the water pumps.
Headgaskets have a crush seal that even if you torque it down, take it off and torque it again without running the motor, is no good after being fully torqued.

Good point
As stated, luckily a new metal OEM head gasket doesn't cost much.

i would because when you torque the head down it might not seal 100% because when you first torque it down some sealentcomes out and closes the gaps but thats just me some people on here have used the same gasket and it worked for them so its up to you
