Default b18c short block to replace b16a

i have a bottom block thats jdm b16a and will purchase a jdm b18c short block
i searched on FAQ and couldn't find if the internal parts of b16a like the crankshaft pistons bearing rods oil pump oil pan and etc will bolt right on up without taking it to the shop to machine to fit the pr3 pistons. I want an all motor b18c with b16a head and will these parts fit fine. I want to use the pr3 pistons and rods for a 11.0:1 compression ratio. Here the b16a block and its 81mm

the head

The jdm b18c i am about to buy come with the crankshaft and pistons etc
and if i get responds if they will fit right on with machining i will ask the seller to remove the internal components and i pay less.

thanks

use everything else from the b18c and just swap the pistons from the b16a and put them on the b18c rods...u'll be much happier...trust me...

did you look at the rod length, crankshaft stroke, etc when you plugged in the b16 vs the b18c components?

The crankshaft stroke in b16a is smaller and b18c is bigger. ANd the rods are 3.00mm difference. Have you done this setup?

So the b16a had less stroke in the calculator than the b18c stroke. So i will have 11.53:1 for sure in stock internals.

The jdm b18c is for sale at 500 short block and the b18c5 in stock inventory is 800 short block will the b18c5 be same compression. i can spent an extra 300 if i can achieve 11.3:1
i read a page that going above 12.1:1 on unleaded will cause denotation is this true man. You have given great advice man. You must be ASE technicain or something.

is there something wrong with the b16a block? if not the block swap while keeping the same internals is pointless. just get the whole b18c

The b16a is 1.6 and b18c is 1.8 i read higher displacement means more torque off the line. That is what i need and the internals are brand new with 489 miles on it. And some jdm b18c are 60Kmiles or something like that and would have to replace them and my pr3 internals are all oem. But the i do not want the whole b18c. In need the short block and was here to know if the parts were bolt on into b18c and did some calculations and would get 11.3:1 on b18c rods and stroke must greater than 10.2:5 on my b16a. I will make a thread in the future by first need to gather as much info to make the b18c witb b16a head and y1 tranny all motor thanks man. Keep the great advice i plan to run 12.2 or so. Would cams be good or to upgrade to b18c or stock b16a

if you get a stock jdm gsr and replace the pistons with b16 pistons, your cr will be pretty high, try it out on the CR calculator. Also, there's no point in paying the extra 300 for a type r block if you plan on replacing the pistons, unless you keep the type r block stock and just bolt on the b16 head. You'll basically have a type r motor just no type r cams and valvetrain.

I tried on calculator the max with my setup was 11.3:1 with the b18c block, b16a head, pr3 ecu, rods are b18c and stroke is b18c and crank is b18c and b16a pr3 pistons. When i put all b18c i got even higher numbers cuz b18c head which i do not have cost 700. But will aggressive cams can i gain some 10 -15 hp?

Use the gsr block, crank and rods, use the b16 pistons and head, call it a day.

a poormans type-r is a b18c1 (gsr) bottom end with integra type-r pistons and a b16 head.
