Default D16y8 NA build ideas cnt

What a lot of people dont understand is that there is such thing as an east coast. Yes my honda gets snow on it, and sometimes it hits these things called "potholes", which most of you dont know anything about. But its cool, because I love New England. But a really important factor is that, not trying to offend anyone, but most honda's out here in the boonies are shameful. Totally factory, with mabey a mean cai.
I'm only looking to expletive around with factory D15/16 LS's with mabey your occasionally american SI, GSR, or RSX(never moded) on my 30 miles to and from work 4 days a week. I cant get 200 hp N/A cause I cant afford it, and putting a turbo on my car kinda eliminates that reliablity of it being a honda??? but id love to embarass some clowns on the highway.

catco hiflow cat/2 1/4 stainless pipe

You want to build your motor on a budget build, and beat other Honda's while you blow like $700-800 on a front end conversion? Get real.

Turbo FTW, you can make it reliable!

P.S. I live in Washington State, I know what you're talking about. Yes there are tons of potholes were I live, and lots of rain, wind, and snow. My car is lowered 2.5-3 inches and I'm loving it, except for a recent mishap that was my fault for letting happen.

if you have a heavy ek ex coupe, then don't go all motor, you'll have to do so much to make it relatively fast.

If you're building your setup to be fast, don't do it.

If you're building it to learn, have fun.

How do i build up my head?????

thats my question.

can i build it without doing my bottom end???
what parts do people suggest??? (clearly not skunk2)
if i must to the bottom end what pistons can i put in to raise the compression without having to seriously mod my block???
MOST IMPORTANT
with doing those bolt-ons and a head renuild how much power can i get???

Yea some people in the north get into it (R.H. especially) but i was being general..

Most hondas i see in my area, no oil checks, no sparkplug replacments, usually some rust. 2 bad

My JDM muffler came with the car because the 45 year old women that owned it before me wanted it to sound "cool".

Why not Skunk2? They don't offer the most agressive cam grind for d-series, but their quality is top-notch, in case you though it was cheap.

There is no such thing as a D15/D16 LS, these are two different motors.
A d15/16 is a "mini-me" swap, putting a z6 or y8 VTEC head on a D15 non-VTEC block.
A LS motor is a 1.8L DOHC non-VTEC from the 90-01 Integra RS/LS/GS.

You do know that you an make a permanent signature instead of having to write a new one don't you?

Of course you can build the head without working on the block, and skunk2 is fine, especially on a budget. Most importantly, we can't tell you how much power you can make.

If you want a truly fast car to go along with your truly JDM exhaust go turbo.

You just rubbed us the wrong way with some generalizations. Like, "all the Honda's in my area are of a lower class.." How do you know? I have not been a member of H-T for long but from what I can see there are some cool cats on this forum. Tone it down and things will be fine.

yea im sorry if i was being an ***. its just especially in my area most moded honda's are coupes with massive bodykits and wings as tall as they can afford. a kid down my street has a 6 gen 4 dr auto with 3 inch dual pipes and dual N1 mufflers. **** like that just gets old real quick.

Last question. Will a turbo built d16 start on -20degree mornings if built properly?
If not, im just gonna gear it high and build my head.

thanks for all your help

Sure, but as you said it has to be built correctly. With ANY high output, small displacement engine, the tuning, part durability & construction quality are key to the setup's reliability. Since it gets very cold in New England, you'll want to allow adequate warm-up and cool-down time for your engine and turbo or risk engine or turbo/manifold damage.

I've seen PLENTY of 300+ whp daily-driven D-Series and 400+ B, H, & K series cars out there. I have however seen far more that had issues or blew because they were driven by boost-happy juveniles using an SAFC (piggyback) and stock internals. Just read and learn, then turn up the PSI.

Here's some great info for ya. And stay SOHC, its a nice, cheap platform to learn with and still can be ***** fast.
