Default engine builders take a look, bearing damage on fresh engine

well this is a picture of one OEM main bearing just used for checking with plasticgauge some weeks ago.
but when i looked at the bearings today i noticed a damage on the bearing tang.
that must be a production error? or any other good idea? any issues with using it?

this is a good one:

If I ever have the slightest doubt about a $10 bearing, I throw it in the trash.

10 in the usa, x5 more at the stealership here. but cant be compared with the rest of money put in the engine.
looks like the tang is about as down as the rest of the bearings but could be a lot easyer to spin a bearing like that so not worth taking that risk

The bearig tang is for placement only. It's not going to keep the bearing from spinning. Bearing spread/OD interference/"crush" is what keeps the bearing from spinning. That's why BE end bore tolerance is "critical". Do you "gurus" agree??

True. It could be signs of poor quality control on other more important aspects of the bearing.

Just educating people here since I've been accused of only harrassing people.

Rocket, lol

OP, if parts are really expensive in Norway, try Delray Acura. The online prices are really good.

delray is my main parts source. it only 3 times as expencive. i picked up a set there today for roush order. funny thing was that the new bearing had just the same "damage" that i was worried about. but the parts dealer said it was ok and nothing to worry about.
