I am going to say a valve dropped also... ALthough I am still trying to figure out why the rod broke. Obviosuly once the rod broke, the rest of the damage is self explanatory. I can't see how a dropped valve would cause the rod to toat itself though...

Looks like you dropped a valve. Although the snapped rod is unusual aftermath

how many r's were you turning when it blew. i had similar damage on my old gsr motor. cylinder one failed for me at 5,000rpm. my head damage was worse than yours but i didn't break a rod. i believe mine was due to a dropped valve.

I was at buttonwillow on the big right turn called riverside , going close to a 100mph at 8500 rpm's. The motor just popped ..

I think the ctr pulley was working the oil pump a little to much causing it to fail.
Maybe one of the reasons why people run the TODA gear for the oil pump.

The valve probably broke due to the piston debris causing it to snap , I still have the stem of the valve and it's bent up in a s shape. Implying that something smacked it upwards.

I had a mugen baffled pan on , installed brand new two days before. I'll try and get some pics of the crank and other bearings when I take the rods off.

this is something I should have installed.

Exclusively from TODA Racing. Reduces chance of oil pump failure during high rpm racing conditions. Popular in the Japanese N1 and N+ endurance racing series where TODA Racing is an engine supplier. The oil pump is the heart of the engine, so when modifications are carried out the oil pump should not be overlooked. Improved oil circulation helps prevent modified engines from incurring expensive rebuilds.
$250.00USD

if you guys don't have this buy it.

bearings looked to have sufferd a bit of pinging, and that could've weakend alot of components in the long run..?

and sum debri imbedded to it, however the debri could have come from the aftermath so not sur about that

however the piston pin is still usable? lol hehe jus playin.. sorry to hear bout this, losing a motor always FTL

i would say the rod broke first and caused the rest of the carnage. and those bearing don't look like they were starved of oil

Detonation does not usually show up on the main bearings. Are there some pics of the rod bearings that I may be missing?
