Default Wierd problem

Hello!

Since a couple of weeks ago, I started to feel that something "hit" the gear shifter, everytime I changed into third gear, this just happends if I am changing into third gear when going around 25-30 mph, it's really wierd don't know what the problem is, I can still change gears it's just that as soon the gear goes in to third gear, it feels like it gets hit by something, almost like when you release the clutch to early when changing gears.

I am also thinking about changing the clutch, I am not the guy to do it my self, does anyone know how much everything will be if I will take it to a dealer?

might be bad driving habits... next time try doing it slowly, tell yourself clutch all the way in and in 3rd before taking your foot off the clutch....

if u still feel it.. change out the tranny fluid... worse case your synco might be going out...
but remember S2K's have notchy trannies to begin with

Ah okey. Well it feels the same as when you shift gears when the engine is cold and its cold wather outside, the gears are very notchy and sometimes hard to put in gear until the engine gets hot, but it always feel the same for the 3rd gear.

i've been trying to do what you said about doing it slowly, it al depends on how fast im going, if I hit the gas pedal as the same time I shift, then I won't feel it.

My car is a 2002 with 88 k on it, and I don't know if the previous driver have changed the clutch.

this question should be preceeded by "what is the dealer going to take from me, then how much?"

answer: they will take your **** virginity, numerous times until you limp back to your car and realize you can't even sit in the seat without leaving a pool of blood while trying to shift gears to get home

A clutch change isn't cheap and it's a pain in the *** on this car. I would stay clear of the dealer though. They'll probably end up charging you double.

Question for you guys .. if its the synchro .. wouldnt it mean every gear would feel this or would only certain gears? I only ask because I sometimes feel this ... and it jumps all over. I mean **** sometimes third, sometimes fourth, sometimes fifth (all not that often) .. then i wouldnt feel it most of the time.

I have an 06 .. could it be the synchros? I am still under warranty ...

alright, I went to my Jap friend who is a old Honda mechanic, he has his own shop only for hondas, he has been working with hondas for like 40 years, he is almost 80 years old.

He said to change the clutch, it would be like 3000 dollars. He did not say anything about the syncros, is it in that price range it would cost if you had someone do it for you? he did not say how much it will cost for the syncros.

your friend isnt much of a friend if he is charging you $3K for a clutch change.... for me to change a clutch on a S2K i charge 350-500 that includes your fluid.. just bring the clutch and ill take care of the rest type thing...

if your changing your clutch look else where

i changed my fluid this past weekend and the car drives like hot fiaaa... seriously each shift is butter... this might be your problem and its a cheap fix... if its not fixed, then go from there... also, how many miles are on the car, what year is it, and when was the last time u changed ur tranny fluid?

In this back water town the dealers will only install a rebuilt transmission $1200 I think they are all incompetent.

Ok, well I am going to change the tranny fluid first, what tranny fluid should I put in though? the car is a 2002 with 88 k miles on it.

I am not so good at doing it myself either so I am thinking about going to Jiffy lube, or someone who can do it for me who knows cars.

I have some problems doing my 5th to 6th shift, it sometimes tries to force me back into 4th.

Is this a synchro issue or the notchiness of the tranny?

I have a 2001 ap1 with 30k miles on it.

alright, I went to Jiffy lube to get my tranny fluid changed. But they said that the dealer is the only one who can change it because it is a special tranny fluid thats needed.

And **** if I go to the dealer, I will have to pay alot more than I should, everyone knows that. If you guys don't change the fluid yourself, where do you go? or am I the only one who need help with this?

I live in CA, Santa monica btw
