Default 5th gen SH header

I have done some searching but havent found any answers. what is the difference between the SH and base header on a 5th gen. i have a DC header now because the oem one is busted up, but i am looking at getting a better header to make some power.

I will a base header bolt up to the SH? I am looking at getting a SMSP header form my SH, I was looking at getting SMSP header that was on a base, will it fit without modification?

The SH has a slightly longer downpipe. I think it's ~4" longer than the base.

Get a header for an SH.

The exhaust on the SH is slighly different due to the Atts. A few years ago I ran into this problem but I learn that your really just wasteing you money. The factory header is about as good as your going to get. I've heard that you could LOSE hp and tq putting on a aftermarket header. Unless you see dyno sheet with that header on against a factory, I would save my money. Just my 2 cents.

No, against another Aftermarket header.....against factory it would have been more.
A header is not a waste of money...

I have the DC sport because my OEM one is busted up, thanks to my brother. I saw some dyno charts of the SMSP making about 15hp over stock. thats why I ask, but its a pain finding a header that will bolt into a SH.

i know that the SH model has a longer downpipe because i had the base model sent to me on accident a while back and it was several inches too short. If you don't need to worry about emissions....you could get the base model header and remove the converter and just replace it with a custom test pipe. A test pipe that you would buy online would be too short, of course, for the same reason as above, so you'd need to either make one or get one made. The OEM cat is 13 5/8" long, so you'd need one a bit longer to fit in place of the cat if you are using the base header on an SH. That's what I'm about to do since I sold my cat a while back when i was turbo, now i'm back to factory, except for the header.

for what its worth, I have a Megan header....I haven't used it yet but its not bad quality from what i can see, especially for the price. It was actually a lot cheaper to buy the Megan header than go get another factory one.

My car is registered in CA, but I am doing grad school in PA right now so i wont have to deal with emissions until i go back to CA.

is the angle any different on the base and SH header, or just the length? if its just the length i can mod the cat and open it up from the 2in its not to 2.5in and extend it a bit, if it requires some bends then it may be a little harder. If you have some more details that would be great. Thanks in advance.

i don't think that the angle is different.....but i could be wrong. if it is different, it would be so slight that it wouldn't really matter since the rear half of the exhaust is somewhat flexible anyway. plus, if you are customizing the cat, you could account for the angle when welding on the added piece.
