Default 5W-30 or 10W-30?

well its time for my oil change in my 07 si. i live in texas so it doesn't really get too cold here during the winter.

question is, would it just be best to use 5W-30? or is there a big difference with using 10W-30?

is 5w30 & 10w-30 what honda recomend for the new civics? because i know alot of the hondas.acuras are using 5w-20 now. but if those are the two weights reocmended by honda i would go with 10w-30 seeing that you live in texas and your never going to see below freezing temps.

Like stated above if temps never drop below 20F you can go ahead and use 10 30w but oem oil grade is 5 30w because it can go till -20F before freezing. Its all in the manual look on pg 221.

Does it really matter if your using AMSOIL Synthetic or other types of synthetic or whether you use 0w30, 5w30, 10w30 or 5w40???? since synthetic flows at a much colder temp so freezing isn't an issue neither is boiling...the only issue might be your dealer may not cover engine warranty if you don't stick to the recommended 5w30 for the Si. I use AMSOIL 0W30.
