i have seen the lotus. the price of the lotus is a little high. you can get a mr-s pretty cheap in comparison. the lotus with the k20 swap was my favorite dream vehicle. this one is giving it a run for the money. the styling of the lotus is a little nicer but this toyota is hot.. but it would be easier to own a lotus with a honda engine rather then a toyota with a honda engine. who makes the motor/tranny mounts??? that seems like the hardest thing to get around.

I'm sure the shop that did the install. The wiring would be a hell of a lot harder than that mechanical problem.

man that is so sick. so custom mounts, axles, and wiring. i looked at the thread above. it looks like they reused one mount just drilled it out a little more. also it looks like theyve made only one custom mount.. i want this car! hasport make a kit!

Yea that car was in Super Street.

Buy the car, take it to a shop by the name of "R Crew" in San Francisco, and they will perform the swap. Well, at least that is what the person did in the article.

I have more details on this swap. if you own the car expect to pay 15,000 for the full swap if done by rcrew. this would include the majority of the parts necessary from kpro to the k20a and the tranny. now if you peiced together everything and did the install yourself expect to pay 11-13000. The custom axles are rather exspensive. if you compare it to a s2000 it is more car for the money. Mid engine k20a will whoop a stock s2000s ***. the mr-s weighs around 2260 pounds. I am sure you could get that number even lower. and traction has to be good with mid engine rear wheel drive. 2260@220 hp and mid engine > 2810@240 hp. it is a lot easier to find all motor gains with a k20a over f20c or f22c. also with the weight difference you could find yourself in the 11s 1/4 mile with all motor k20. to do that with the s2000 will be hard without boost. s2000 is 550lbs heavier. you could build the mrs for 25k and you can also buy an s2000 for 25k. you can get a used s2k for 15k and sink 10k and pull 12s all day but 11s??? if you could get the mr-s under 2000 lbs you would really be flying. the 2001 lotus elise with a k20 swap would be the closest competitor and ive seen one of those under 1500lbs wet with a k24 tsx block. I suppose stock weight of 2001 elise is around 1600lbs. so the mr-s is the mid point between the two. It is priced in the mid point rang also with the s2000 being the cheapest to get into, followed by mr-s k20 swap then the 2001 lotus elise k20 swap.

you could more than likely swap the k24 into the mr-s as well. 300whp 2.4 tsx block with k20 head. maybe knock the weight down to 2000lbs. you would really fly in the mr-s but the elise would still be 500 lbs lighter and you can do the exact same thing. I am rambling but maybe this info will someday be helpful to someone other then myself.

with all options considered i think i may swap my si for a 01 type r or s2k. I would like to take on this project however i do not live in california where Rcrew is located. It would be trouble trying to find a shop that is capable of doing such a swap where i live. The custom parts are also hard to get if you have a problem. exhaust mani and work is all custom. hytech owns.
