Default b16 vs b20(non-vtec)

Right now i have a b16a2 in my EJ8 completly stock except main bolt-ons, Plans for motor is skunk2/blox IM, Hytech replica header, P30 or CTR pistons to go along with CTR or ITR cams later on...keeping 1.6L

or my other choice is a JDM b20 99-00 spec, about the same bolt-ons,maybe keeping the stock bottom end ,with crower 303 cams if its possible with stock bottom end, if i go b20 i'll be keeping my b16 tranny

Sorry if i miss anything, just ask me,i dont want to do a b20 vtec now..

Which one would you choose and why?....

thanx everyone..

b20. more torque and a better platform to build off of.

Ive had both motors and I have to say that the B20 feels a whole lot better and has gobs more torque than the B16. You'll get more power out of the B20 than the little B16!

yea i know, i had a Ls motor with Gsr tranny, header ,CAI,2.5 exaust and stage 1 with 8 lbs flywheel and then i swapped the stock b16 the torque-less was pissing me off at first but now im use to it, i like the top-end power...

will CTR pistons be compatable with my stock b16 rods ???

with a stock b20z in my eg hatch with a short ram intake, ebay header and a ls trans, and completely stock exhust from the cat all way to the thumb size tail pipe, i put 6 cars on a jdm b16 swapped ef hatch with a dc header, full exhaust, cold air, and act stage 3 clutch, it was tuned on turbo edit. i was on crome with a raised redline (7500) and tweaked fuel map.

bottom line- b20 tourque rules, but a b16 is still fun on a road course. put the b16 head on the b20 with a b16 trans and go hunt some k swaps and boosted single sticks

oh and there is no comparison between the way a b20 moves a car and the way a ls moves a car. the b20 lets you know when you give it gas!

we choose touque over hp because hp is nothing more than torque over rpm. the b20 makes it faster, therefore, it will motovate your car to move quicker. oh and the added displacement realy showes its seet self after like 80mph when its still pulling HARD

And have your *** handed to you. Unless the K-swap is very poorly tuned.

sorry, havent ran accross ne k's. i sort of live in a mullet infested region lol. just figured that with that kind of gearing, and if he put some real cams in and put on a good manifold and got a good tune that he may beat a k swap. as long as they werent racing top end. glad to see that you were paying atention though.its pretty sad that less than 4 months ago my na b20 was probably one of the 5 fastest dd hondas where i live lol. actually pieced together the swap for less than a single stick vtec costs! (i love old hicks with junkyards. especialy when they dont think import parts are worth the time to pull out. bout to get a complete teg brake swap for my eg when i get payed for a whole 40 bucks)
