i know people have posted about the gsr intake manifold comparing it to the skunk 2 intake manifold but none of the posts really answered the question that i have. My question is, the stock gsr intake manifold is the butterfy which has that primary and secondary vtec(sorry i still dont understand it well haha im noob
). If i get a Skunk 2 Pro Series Intake Manifold, when will Vtec hit? I heard the Skunk 2 Intake Manifold works so that vtec doesnt go through that dual stage. Also is it better if i do get a Skunk 2 Pro Series intake Manifold or should i just stick with my stock GSR intake manifold. By the way, my car is stock except for the intake.

Stick w/ your oem GSR intake unless you get some cams and want your power up top. Stock GSR IM works great for mid range. I learned the hard way and got a Skunk2 IM before my cams and the car was slower than before the install. Then i got BC3 cams and moved vtec to 5800 rpm, and car runs a lot better.
first, there is only one vtec and that's at 4400rpm.
second, replacing your intake manifold with a single runner manifold like a skunk2 has no effect on vtec. it'll keep on engaging at 4400rpm until you change it in the ecu.
third, a single runner manifold is not a good mod until you have at least cams.
fourth, maybe a visual aid will help:

okay im lookiung at different responses form people and i still dont know wut to do. Should i stick with my stock GSR IM or get a skunk2 pro series.
Basically what the guys are trying to say is, if you keep your stock GSR cams, changing the IM will not benefit you, in terms of power. So if you're going to change to a single runner IM (i.e. skunk2, blox or whatever) be sure that you've changed your cams first.
