Default Fuel gauge question

I put an ITR gauge cluster in my hatch a while back and ever since I put it I've seen some wierd things with the fuel gauge. Whenever I fill up the tank it pegs the needle wayyyyy past the F line, now it does move down like a normal gauge when consuming fuel but never gets down to under the half line. Any ideas on how to "reset" or fix it? I tried filling it up and waiting for the needle to reach the F line and then unplugged the cluster and drove the car about 5 miles and plugged it back in but it just shot all the way back up again.

its cause the gauge doesnt have a max read on it if you put 12 gallons in a 10 gallon tank the gauge is going to read the max that it can untill it gets to 10 or less gallons, dont worry about it its fine

I guess I'll just leave a gas can in my car and run it down to see if it will stop at E or at least give me a low fuel light.
