can a km/h cluster work for mph usdm miles?
im looking for a jdm or a sir cluster and the miles say km/h if i plan to purchase it will it work the same here in the us? meaning numbers run the same. thanks
Already done it, it works just fine. There's actually a professional looking conversion chart for common automotive speeds that you can stick to your cluster's cover.
Plug and play. It will read in kph, not in mph though. I sure hope you're not assuming that the new cluster will be reading 120 and that you'll be going 120 mph.
Does it have MPH in the middle like we have KPH? I know a few Canadian vehicles I drove had it, if so theres no need for any conversion chart
Oh nevermind, I just checked, they dont.

The JDM cluster I got didn't have the mph conversion on the inside like ours have the kph conversion. The EDM ones I believe have the proper conversion as well.
All you have to remember is one conversion:
60mph = 100kmph
After that, it's basic division.
90mph = 150kph
30mph = 50kph
15mph = 25kph
Then you can just feel out the other speeds.

i either listed it wrong or you guys didnt understand lol sorry, i meant the MILEAGE on the cluster not the miles its running.
my b16a motor has 84,000 miles
thats around 135,000KM
so im wondering if i buy a JDM or SI-R Cluster that has KM/H Mileage
will it run the same as a CLUSTER WITH MPH,
No right? because every mile is 1.6KM? or am i wrong?

btw a nice method to know how fast ur going if u have graduated from middle school (not saying anyone hasn't just saying how easy it is) i use to drive a real ef8, had the sir gauge cluster, take the first 0 off and times it by 6... example 100 kmh 10x6 ur going about 60mph.... 60 kph take 0 off , 6x6 ur going ABOUT 36 mph... its not on the dot but its pretty accurate, i was told this and tested it at a radar detector on the road and it was within like 3 mph give or take
There are converters available (mostly used when importing European cars to the UK), that will alter the calibration of the speedometer so that it indicates mph even though the units state km/h. In other words, the speedometer will read 60 km/h but you'll actually be travelling 60 mph.

We need to get our hands on these converters. I think I see them for sale on eBay.co.uk
