Engine Lights - Got some interesting codes. (x3)
My check engine light is on, so I took it down to Auto Zone and had them pull the "error codes" (or whatever they are called) off of my OBDII. This is the result I got, it came up with 3 codes:
- P1457: EVAP Control System Leak Detected. (Control Canister System). Probable causes: (1) Check fuel cap. (2) Failed vent or purge solenoid.
- P0304: Cylinder misfire detected. Cylinder number 4. The powertrain control module monitors the crankshanft speed and has detected a misfire condition. Probable causes: (1) Ignition system fault - spark plugs, ingition wires, coil. (2) Vacuum leak. (3) Injector fault. (4) High or low fuel pressure.
- P1399 (This one is weird): This one came up with 3 different things. One told me it was a "Wait to start lamp circuit" but for a Crysler Truck. The second one told me it was a "engine rpm signal TD to B+", which is for a Volkswagen. And then there was a OEM Brand OBDII "glow plug circuit high side".
Any suggestions on what I can do with these? I'm not very experienced with fixing engines and stuff, but would like to try to fix some of this on my own. Are there any fairly simple/straight forward things I could do about this? Or would I be better of bringing it to a shop? (And have them rip me off like they always do?)
