Default Electical oil pressure gauge

Hey guys, I just bought an electrical oil pressure gauge for my 98 GSR. But I can't seem to find the place (wire) on the car's computer where I could connect it.

Is there any other spot on the car that I could wire it to? How about the the wire running from the Oil Pressure Switch (on the engine block), can I splice that?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

The gauge should have come with an oil pressure sensor that the wire connects to. Electronic oil pressure sensors should be mounted on the firewall to prevent them from going bad. I blew out 2 in a couple months cause i had it connected to the block with a Tee and the stock oil switch. Good luck

no biggie here, I could get a manual (with a T bracket). I think manual Oil pressure gauge that connect directly to the block, uses a diaphragm to measure the pressure. But I think it is a pain in the butt to reach that sensor in the back of the engine. What tools do you use for unscrewing the sensor from the block? Socket mm?

Do you need to use the oil sender provided in the kit, i thought these are just unversal gauges..and they provided a oil pressure sender/switch incase the car didnt come with one from factory..Surely the honda oil pressure switch next to oil filter with the single wire can be spliced into with the wire from the electrical guage since output will be in Volts or soemthing? What i am trying to ask is do we need to use this sender provided with the guage or can we just splice in the existing wire coming of the honda oil pressure switch?
Anyone tried it?

Technically, no. But you have to be smart about it. If you use the sensor that came with the gauge, then the manufacturer was already smart and everything will work fine.

If you use your own (different from the gauge), you have to make sure the voltage range is the same. For example, if the sensor you have goes from 0-1 V and the gauge goes from 0-5 V, then your gauge will not read the correct pressure.

You cannot splice into the Honda oil pressure switch. The reason is that it is just that, a switch. It closes the circuit when the oil pressure drops below 5 psi (too low to be useful in my opinion anyway). As long as pressure is above 5 psi, the switch is open. This kind of signal will not work with a gauge.

Yes u r right...tried em both...
u have to use the sender provided with the kit ....or else it just read a On and Off
ie 20 psi or 100 psi
with the sender conected all is fine
thanks man

So if your guage didn't come with a pressure sensor what do you use? I bought a guage with no sensor and want to hook it up. Thanks
