Default auto tranny fluid change--1999 2.3 vtech

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here, with a couple of q's about my 99 accord. The car has 60K and runs good, just got it from my father in law. He has never changed the tranny fluid so I think it needs to be done. Fluid is red, doesnt't smell burnt and shifts good.

Q#1 Does the car have to be level when draining fluid, or can the front end be raised with back wheels on the ground?

Q#2 Is it worth it to buy honda fluid or is a napa product just as good

Q#3 whats the easiest way to refill, through dipstick hole or through fill plug, (do I need special funnel for fill plug)

thanks,

k man

The car can be jacked up in the front when draining. Since the bolt is near and behind the front passenger side tire, You don't have to raise it that high.

I would buy Honda Fluid. They just seem to work better. Better shifting and smoothness. Though I think they might be pricey, they are worth it. But I used other products before and they are pretty good too.

To refill, the only way is through the dipstick. You might want to get a long funnel.

Transmission funnels are a common item at any place that sells transmission fluid, buy one of them. It's long and the end is designed to be small enough to fit into the dipstick tube, and it's only $3 or so.

With regard to VTEC, read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VTEC , it'll explain what VTEC is.
