That's exactly what I was wondering. How WOULD oil get into my distributor???

Could it be the wiring (tapped to the ignition)?

Could it be that i just have a bad distributor?

It sounds like the shaft seal in your distributor has failed, hence the oil.

That sounds like the ignitor unit my friend. An MSD ignition box and coil will prematurely destroy your ignitor. The ignitor is the little brown unit inside the dizzy. You can replace it or get a new dizzy and choose not to use the MSD again. I have had MSD set-ups on several of my cars, and its not worth it. You could have been stranded.

So do you guys think I should just get rid of the msd box and coil? Would it be bad for my setup (Jrsc, 11 psi, stock internals, new pistons/rings/bearings, FMU, STOCK injectors---I'll probably get shot for that one)???

Yes ditch the MSD and get a new ignitor, if you have a helms it will tell you how to check if its bad.

Fix the oil leak in the distributor as well. That is not helping the electronics.

I hope you are just waiting to get tuned, right? Surely you dont want to break all these shiny new parts in your motor.

I think I may end up just replacing the whole distributor.

I have no idea where to obtain the shaft seal.
