that has the requirements to import a Canadian car to the U.S.?

pm penpen i dont think there is a big deal with it I've seen many CDN cars in the US

 

yeah im pretty sure there the exact same car as the us spec itr, so there shouldnt be any problems, the reason its hard to register jdm cars, is they are much different then us cars, much different crash safety requirments, and smog regulations

 

X3... They do it all the time. Same specs, you might just have to get it inspected.

 

yeah def need to get it inspected, it should just be like buying a car from another state

 

you'll need to get documentation from acura in the US saying that the car is the same spec except for the gauge cluster

the buyer will need to take it to customs to get the car inspected and have the paperwork processed

not sure if there is more, i owned my car for >2 yrs when i imported it, but the buyer will need to pay tax on it as well

then you take all that paperwork to the dmv to get it registered

....if memory serves it's been a few years since i brought her over. if you're still having trouble lmk, i had a list of all the required documents kicking around somewhere. if it doesn't work out for them they can just buy mine

 

PENPEN has it pretty correct. Call the closest US Customs & Border Protection Port Of Entry. Ask for the Commercial Operations Division or a Supervisory Import Specialist. Ask them to transfer you to the Senior Import Specialist on the team that handles importations of vehicles. That person will give you the current import requirements and the current duty rate. They should happily explain, it is their job. If not go back to the Supervisor<LOL>

Taking a wild guess but i think emissions may have something to do with it.

In Canada, all cars from foreign countries are eligible for import as soon as they are 15 years or older, which means that if a car rolled off the production line 15 years ago today it would be eligible for import as of today. There are importers across the country who make this a business, there are likely 200-300 cars coming into the country from Japan every month. Everything is legal and legit, importers take care of registering them and then they are for sale to whomever wants them. As far as cars 15 years and older we are lucky, but there are no cars newer than 15 years, in the US there are ways to register them, unfortunately here we don't, and pretty soon we might be fucked anyway . Due to the massive influx of RHD cars, insurance companies are trying to get the law changed to 25 years. They are trying to convince the government with crybaby tactics and phony statistics that these RHD cars are killing their profits, we have set up organisations to fight them, setup legal funds to cover the expenses that might might be needed to hire representatives and researchers. Anyway I need to get ready for work, might comment again on this later if anybody needs to know more.

The OP owns a 00 ITR. The red seats came in the 01 model.

This is correct but there are ways of bringing in JDM cars newer then 15 yrs old. For instance, a track only car. I for one will be pleased to see the 15 yr rule go to up to 25 but I shall save that argument for a different time so as to not go off topic.

what I was saying is are u.s.a $ is = to canadas $,so it would be cheaper to buy in the u.s.a

 

sometimes you have to justify the price on teh condition not where its origin or currency exchange.
