Default CYP cel after advancing exhaust cam +1

i really do not want to replace the distributor again. This would be twice in a little over a month. I have JUN gears and moved the cam to the first line on the advance side. Tightened the bolts down with locktite and started the motor. I got a CYP cel (distributor) and I dont understand how making a small adjustment could do that....

H22a (converted to OBD2), 1998 Prelude, P28 ecu, Crower Cams, JUN gears

any opinions from the peanut gallery?

meh. This may be unavoidable.

The reason it came on was of course because you threw the position of the pickup off, and now it is not hitting when the TDC sensor is hitting one of its 4 pickups.

You may want to try advancing the dist 1 degree and altering the base timing adjustment in neptune.

edit: You would have to advance dist timing 2 degrees since the cam spins half the speed of the crank.

u nailed it on the head matt. It appears that us OBDII distributor guys are not able to move the exhaust cam without throwing off the pickup.

Has anyone ever slotted an OBDII distributor so we can move the pickup with the cams?

looks like im going to have to resort to retarding the intake cam to take out some overlap.

if you remove one of the 3 bolts holding the dizzy(the top right or one closest to the radiator) you should beable to adjust it....if not then use a obd1 housing with odb2 inner componets

I'll try that after replacing all the bolts on the JUN gears
