Honda Accord Muffler replacement.
Hi all,
I'm new here, but I do need some help deciding something. Recently I've noticed that my 93 Accord's muffler has formed quite a bug rust spot and is starting to get loud. So with that happening I can put on what we call in Ohio a "can muffler". You know, like the performance mufflers. My problem is I don't want a super loud one, just one that makes the car sound racy. I want to be able to hear the engine rev, but I don't want to be pulled over for disturbing the peace. So to my point, does anybody have one of these mufflers on their Accord/ have a reccomendation of what I should put on mine? I'm trying to find one that is pretty cheap, because i plan to cut the muffler right off the pipe and fit on one of those universal ones. I also have a few more things to add, but right now i just need a few suggestions
Thanks in adavance!

doesn't your car have the "racey" sound with the hole in it??? Quiet and fart can dont generally go together...the quietest exhaust I've heard of..heard is the Greddy Sp2...
Yes, it does have that racey sound to it right now... But I'm betting that in a short time that hole will get bigger and the racey sound will turn into a nasty sounding wreck. I'm not all that concerned about the noise, I just don't want something you can hear 4 streets over... Its also gotta be somewhat cheap, after all, I'm only 17 and can't afford some of these catback systems. Im looking at things like Cherry Bombs and Universal Dynomax. You know, something around 35-100 bucks... The other problem that it looks like i'll be running into with a universal is that i will be cutting the pipe where the stock muffler starts but that doesnt leave enough room past the crimp to work with. Is there a store that specializes in universal mufflers/ pipes to fit them? I'm somewhat new to all this...

well due to your financial limitations...which is totally understandable for being 17 I reccomend a few things...
1. ebay find a cheap muffler pray it aint gay, get it installed at a muffler shop
2. find a girl and pimp here to buy a cheap muffler from ebay and get it put on at a muffler shop....
Doesn't sound like you wanna do anything big to your car..but having a aftermarket exhaust will make you feel cooler...go for like a 2 1/4 inch or 2 1/2 muffler you can always reuse it if you choose to upgrade the rest of you exhaust system later...

I installed a cherry bomb turbo muffler for a customer at work today, its supposed to be performance, but it sounds exactly like stock, and I assume it performs the same. It was cheap (around $35 cdn) and it was cheaper then the Aftermarket OEM replacement ($65cdn)
Just keep in mind, that no matter what people claim, this is not a performance muffler, it is just advertised as one. It sounds exactly like OEM, just slightly deeper
IF you cant do the install yourself, a muffler shop wont change much to do it on your honda. I have the same one, and there are no bends involved, so its straight forward, and should be cheap, even for a shop to install it.

Oh yes, I want one of these aftermarkets on.. My car will sound like it is twice as fast
.... I've been looking at some universals on this page http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs...10245
Are any of the brands listed looking good to you? I've read that magnaflows sound really nice, but most are 80+.... What about these "cherry bombs (scratch that, thanks for the info JDM_DC4_Fanatic)/ Thrushes" ? Are they worth it?
And random fact, my dad said he used to put Thrushes on his cars when he was my age.... Too bad his cars had nothing on my Accord!
*edit* I've been looking at this site (just one of the car stores in Ohio) for my new exaust pipe (the piece that goes from the catalitic to the new universal muffler) http://www.autozone.com/R,APP1...t.htm
