Did you check the fuel injectors yet? Double check ALL wiring too.

 

are those other cylinders even getting spark?

i meant 2 and 3, have to pulled a wire and ground it to see if its sparking?

Answered your own question there champ.

If you REALLY did try your friends distributor off of his running car, and his didn't work... then the only other link between cylinders 2 and 3 is the spark plug cables; and cap/rotor. (which I'm assuming you changed out as well)

how on earth did you check your injectors? hold them in with zip ties so they wouldn't pop off the rail?

on the two cylinders that aren't firing, pull the plugs out and smell them, do they smell like gas?

 

take it to someone that might even have a clue to troubleshooting

go through these steps, you have already done some of them. the basics are fuel and spark right?, so you have checked for spark, from what i picked up 1 and 4 have spark and 2 and 3 dont, lets leave that alone for now. fuel, to check just take all your plug wires off and crank the engine, then take the plugs out one by one and smell for fuel like Kevinz said. if you have fuel on all four cyclinder and still have spark on only two of them after changing out companants like wires, dizzy, etc. then you have to go up the "spark tree" , have you changed/customized your harness, if so re-check all of those areas, if all that is good then you should check your ECU. other things might be timing, though i dought it.

 

also if you have a OBD0 head and are running two O2 sensors, one of them is for cylinders 1 and 4 and the other is for 2 and 3, if one is bad that may do it as well but probably not
